PAN Card is not only a document used for Income-tax purposes. It is also used as an Identity Proof for many transactions apart from being required by many statutes as a base document. Many people due to their bad luck lose their PAN Card (or) some times have their PAN Cards in a damaged condition. In other cases, PAN card received by you might be with a spelling mistake, wrong date of birth etc.,
We will look at the procedure involved in obtaining a Duplicate PAN Card.
First Step
Firstly try to obtain the photo copy of your PAN card from your database/records which will make your work more easy.
In case, you are not able to find your PAN Card copy, try to obtain atleast the PAN Number from available records. (ie.,) Previous year Income tax return copies, Demat Account, Bank Account,etc.,
If you are not able to get the photo copy and also not able to get your PAN number allotted to you, the only available solution is to use the below mentioned link to obtain your PAN from the Income-tax data base :-

Second Step
Download the Application for Duplicate PAN Card in lieu of Lost/Damaged PAN Card. You can download the form from the below link.

Final Step
Fill the form, attach the Latest Address Proof & ID Proof with the form, sign at appropriate places after affixing the lastest photographs and submit the form. Normally, it takes around 20-25 days to obtain the duplicate PAN Card.
Please Note
v Do not apply for a new PAN card (New PAN Number) when you have a PAN already allotted in your name. It is an offence and you are punishable if you have more than one PAN.
v If you have more than one card , use the link below to intimate the Income-tax Department and surrender one PAN Card.

v Some times, before issuing a Duplicate PAN Card, the PAN allotting authority may send a letter/email to reconfirm and resend the proof for the change requested. In such a case, the required information must be sent within the stipulated time. Else, duplicate PAN Card will not be issued.
